Collage has always played an important role in Yolanda del Riego’s work. As noted by the Spanish art critic Cesáreo Rodríguez-Aguilera:

"there is…an abundance of ‘added elements’, like ‘collage’, that enrich and humanize this work…”

YR often uses collage as an addition to other techniques, such as drawing and painting, in the same way that she uses chine collé (and not glue, as is the case for collage) in her printmaking works.
