For me, art is an adventure.
— Yolanda del Riego

Yolanda del Riego’s work has been described by critics as lyrical abstraction. Her personal use of color, textures, reliefs and translucencies, together with an exquisite care in the selection of her supports, form a unique visual language that can be appreciated in all her artworks.

Yolanda del Riego’s works can be difficult to classify by technique. As described by the art critic Francesc Miralles:

In Yolanda del Riego the techniques accumulate, they overlap, they become fierce, they are enhanced, to lead us to spaces of meticulous and precise nuance. Yolanda del Riego leads us beyond the limits of technique.

—Francesc Miralles, Catalog essay for the exhibition Recent Works, 1999 [English translation]
