La Alcarria Series (1984–1986)

During the mid-1980s, Yolanda del Riego frequently spent weekends in La Alcarria region, in a village located on the shore of the Entrepeñas Reservoir. This series of oil paintings on paper was inspired by the canyons formed by the Tagus river (the name of Entrepeñas means “between rocks”), the hills of olive trees, and the winds and waves of the “Sea of Castile", the name by which the reservoir was known.
