Paisaje de rombos (2012-2103)
Paisaje de rombos (2012-2013)
[Rhomboid Landscape]
This series of digital works has its origin in an earlier work by Yolanda del Riego from 1983, the patchwork Olé. The series is named Paisaje de rombos [Rhombus Landscape] because of the rhombus (or diamond-shaped) pattern that dominates the original patchwork on which the series is based.
The artist, looking for textile qualities, initially developed them as designs for silk scarves. Playing off the word diamond (rhombus), the variants are named after gemstones.
The series was included in the exhibition True to Self (2013), where it was displayed in a horizontal backlist display.
