“Textiludios” (1983)
In 1983, Yolanda del Riego created a collection of large abstract collages (patchworks or, as she called them, “textiludios”) made from fabric scraps and old clothes. It was a form of “upcycling” before the term was even used.
Some of these works were included in two solo exhibitions, organized with the collaboration of the United States Embassy in Spain: first at the Instituto de Cooperación Iberoamericana (Oils, Etchings, and Textiles) and later at the United States Cultural Center in Madrid (Yolanda del Riego. Recent Works).
